Pay it Forward

Like any other day I got an email from a blog that I follow, but something in that email caught my eye and I went to check out the details. The blog is of Patricia St. Martin who owns the blog Rubber Stamping Is My Game . On the blog post was this image and it caught my eye again...

Along was the story of how a friend of Patricia's sent it to her and she was basically going to Pay it Forward. What a Great idea. Here are the rules.

I promise to send a handmade card to the first five people who comment on this post. However, there's a catch. You must post this, offering something handmade to five other people.
The rules state that it must be something handmade or homemade by you and needs to be sent to five other people during 2011.

Patricia also mentioned that if you were the 1st to comment, then she would send a homemade card or something homemade sometime this year. Well this sounded like fun so I posted a comment hoping I was the first to reply. Well it looks like I was since there were no comments there before me.

So in keeping with the spirit of the game, I am posting the pic, and am willing to Pay It Forward to the first 5 people who comment on this blog posting. Thank you for your visit!! Glad you liked the digi, he didn't turn out too bad seeing he was only drawn about two minutes before I posted the post at two in the morning! (I forgot it was Wednesday!) Keep seeing this pay it forward,not sure what I could make, but I'd love to give it a go if I'm not too late! (((Lyn))

Our Rescue Dogs

Here are some pics of our two dogs that we rescued from shelters.
Sabrina is part schipperke and part chow and is entirely black including her tongue! She only weighs 45 pounds so is a medium sized dog and her hair is as soft as silk! We went to look at puppies at the shelter (Angel Ridge Rescue) but my younger sister saw Sabrina and pointed her out from among all of the dogs that were running around the outdoor play area. What a beautiful sight she was! She was rescued from a home and we had no details on her life before her rescue. She once had a very bad case of separation anxiety, which is now completely gone and she is our sweet loving girl. I call Sabrina my Velcro dog, because she loves being near me. She loves attention and quickly makes friends with everyone because of her sweet temperament.

Jake is part mini schnauzer and part West Highland Terrier and was one of 36 dogs rescued from an apartment (yes..an apartment!) which was running an internet puppy mill for these little sweeties. Jake weighed 15 pounds and had a very severe case of being afraid of everything and everyone. When we saw him at our local animal shelter (Animal Friends) he was hiding under the bed and as soon as I saw his sweet face, I knew in my heart he was what our house and Sabrina needed...a new friend! Jake is now what I call my Super glue dog, because he not only wants to be near me, but he prefers being attached to me permanently!!

After meeting Jake, my older sister adored him from the start. I called up a friend who volunteers at Animal friends and was informed that all 36 had been adopted out. About less than a week or so I got a call that someone had actually returned one of the mini schnauzer/westie mixes! How could they? Why would they? Who cared?? My sister was given the opportunity to own one of Jake's friends/relatives!!

Well as it turned out we are convinced that Zoe (my sisters rescued dog) is Jake's Mother. Jake was approximately 2 years old and Zoe was 8 years old. Their markings are nearly identical and although Jake has a rounder face (like a Westie) they are so similar it is hard to ignore. When they first met each other, they went snout to snout and pounced their noses together like they were kissing each other Hello! It was adorable!!! When Zoe visits, they all are inseparable! Sabrina loves them both and all three of them love spending time together.

I would recommend to EVERYONE to ignore the pricey "purebred or trendy dog of the moment" dogs that you arent sure where they come from and find yourself a wonderful loving companion and friend in a rescue dog! When I heard the following phrase it truly summed up how I feel about adopting a rescue dog for our home: Adopt a rescue....They never forget and love you forever for it!!
